Accessibility

Accessibility statement

We want walking, wheeling and cycling in Droitwich, and this website, to be open to everyone.

1. Physical and infrastructural accessibility (“Wheeling”)

Accessibility is at the heart of what we do. Our name deliberately includes “Wheeling” so that everyone who uses wheelchairs, mobility scooters or other wheeled assistive devices is recognised and included in active travel in Droitwich.

Accessible routes and infrastructure

We campaign with Wychavon District Council and Worcestershire County Council for better paths, crossings and routes. This includes step-free, smooth-surfaced health corridors and towpaths that work for people with limited mobility, people pushing prams and wheelchair users.

Inclusive community events

Our community activities, such as bike buses and bike repair hubs, are open to people of all ages and abilities. If you have an access need for any of our events, please tell us when you get in touch and we will do our best to help.

2. Digital accessibility and online services

Our website was developed in partnership with Saltway Digital. We want as many people as possible to be able to use it. For example, you should be able to:

  • use the website on a phone, tablet or computer, with event schedules, news and sign-up forms that adapt to your screen
  • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate the whole website using just a keyboard, with a clear focus outline and a “Skip to content” link
  • use the website with a screen reader, with headings, labelled form fields and text descriptions of photos
  • read the text easily: we use the Atkinson Hyperlegible typeface, designed for readers with low vision, and colours with strong contrast
  • use the website in light or dark mode, following your device setting

Simple ways to get in touch

We keep community communication straightforward: contact forms, our event booking platform at bookings.dcwwg.org.uk, and updates on our website and social media. You can use these to report a path issue, ask about an event or book a bike repair slot. If a form doesn’t work for you, you can email or phone us instead.

3. Known limitations

We know some parts of the website may not be fully accessible:

  • some older blog posts and photos may be missing detailed text descriptions
  • the Bike Bus route map is provided by Google Maps and can be hard to use with a keyboard or screen reader. Please contact us for a written description of the route
  • some documents, videos and forms on other websites we link to (such as Microsoft Forms, YouTube and Facebook) are not controlled by us

We are working to fix these. If you find anything else that is hard to use, please let us know.

4. Reporting problems and contacting us

If you need information in a different format, are looking for specific technical compliance documentation, or need to report an accessibility issue with our booking system or website, please contact us:

We aim to reply within 5 working days.

Enforcement procedure

If you contact us with a complaint and you’re not happy with our response, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).

Technical information

We aim for this website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. This statement was prepared on 10 October 2026.
